What a difference a week makes! The experts did say that it would get worse before it could get better. This is true. More things are shutting down. Some congested cities are on lockdown. My best friend lives in San Francisco and is not allowed to go to work. The city (like others) has required all non-essential businesses to shut down and restaurants are only allowed to offer take-out food. Our current hotel gives us a brown bag “grab-n-go” breakfast each morning that we are required to eat in our room.
We are in Augusta, Georgia. Our hotel has 152 rooms and there are 15 cars in the parking lot.
We left Charleston 3 days ago and came here. I was growing concerned about changing to a new environment each week. If I were in my hometown in my apartment where I knew no one except my husband and I had touched things, I would not be concerned. However, each hotel is different and each staff is different.
I wanted to take my own precautions, but all the stores have been sold out of Lysol and bleach wipes for a long time now. Therefore, I may or may not have taken a Ziploc baggie into the gym at our Charleston hotel and put half a dozen equipment wipes in it. I may or may not have then used those wipes to cleanse all the surfaces in our Augusta hotel room before unpacking. I have no idea what’s even in equipment wipes. Is it anything like a bleach wipe? I’ll take my chances. It isn’t going to make the situation worse, after all.
My husband has a conference call with his employer in 45 minutes to discuss the details of their plan to take employees off the road and send them home. They will be asked to service clients via phone, email, online meetings etc. I am excited about being near family and friends in a familiar environment. However, keep in mind, that we do not have a “home” to go to. We will be in an extended stay hotel on our own dime. I signed up for an adventure and I got it in spades! Watch what you wish for. . . you just might get it.
